The Story of Phullara: Beauty Shouldn’t Have to Hurt

I grew up in Jaipur—the Pink City. If you’ve ever walked through its vibrant lanes, you know it’s a place where art is in the air. Growing up surrounded by palaces and generations of master craftspeople, I always took beautiful, handcrafted jewelry for granted. To me, jewelry wasn't just metal; it was an art form that carried a piece of someone's soul.

Then, life happened, and I moved to Mumbai for work.

Suddenly, I was thrown into the fast-paced, high-energy city life. I loved it, but I immediately noticed a common dilemma facing almost every woman around me. To look sharp and put-together for work, weddings, or festivals, everyone wore artificial jewelry. But there was a painful secret nobody was fixing: it was always a trade-off.

If a Jhumka or Choker looked stunning and detailed, it felt like an anchor weighing down your ears or neck by midday. Even worse, I saw so many of my friends and colleagues quietly suffering from painful skin rashes, redness, and allergies caused by cheap, nickel-heavy metals. I lost count of how many times I heard, "I love these earrings, but they are killing me."

I couldn't shake the thought: Why should looking beautiful have to hurt? Why should women have to choose between a gorgeous design and basic comfort? That’s when the lightbulb went off. The answer was waiting for me back in my hometown. Why not take the timeless, intricate skill of Jaipur’s artisans and use it to solve this exact problem?

That is how Phullara was born.

I started Phullara to create jewelry for the modern woman who wants to stand out without making her body pay the price. We went back to the roots of design to build a brand centered entirely around three non-negotiable promises:
